Moonlight Towers

Debuted in 1890 at the Chicago world’s Fair, Moonlight Towers were designed to simulate 24 hours of daylight by throwing a 3000 ft circle of light around the tower. They became popular in major cities around the world including: Paris, Philidelphia, Detroit, and L.A. Austin installed 31 towers, 17 of which still exist today. Austin is the only city in which moonlight towers still exist.
